Reflective Journal: Week 6
Final week!
I spent the first few days finishing the car turnaround sheet which I'm happy with. I think it's quite clear, although it's still a little confusing and complicated by nature of the design. Clearer 3D drawings and diagrams would help but I didn't implement these in the interest of time. I also added a fully rendered drawing on the top right corner to more clearly show the materials and the car's form. Sam worked on the character turnaround at the same time.
We added an extra page of notes for the 3D modellers. Many of these are on the turnaround sheets as well but we figured it would be helpful to have all the notes together on one page as well.
I am really happy with how the final character and vehicle designs look together. Sam did the majority of the hero image work - I only helped with decision making and the sketch. I think it looks very cool and dynamic and has a classic arcade game kind of look.
I felt a little bad because I felt like Sam did more work than I did in this project especially with taking on the poster, but she reminded me that I did the InDesign layout for us and that really does balance it out. I'm now really happy with how we've managed to split our workload and I think our final project looks great!
We were a little rushed with our poster design which is a shame because I think we would have both really enjoyed the process if we had more time to work on it. This was an issue with us falling a little behind schedule and having to spend the first half of the week finishing up our turnarounds. We might have spent too long on decision making in earlier stages. With our final vehicle design and poster design, we finalised our decisions quite quickly (partially from the building time pressure). I think that through this project we've gotten better at decision making (I hope) or at least are much more aware of the importance of making efficient decisions to keep things moving.
