Illustration Week 3: Bashful Benson & Continuous Line Drawing

I twisted(?) a cube to create Bashful Benson.

You may be able to spot the pen I drew on the reverse side of Benson's page. This was my continuous line drawing.

I used to find them a little annoying to do but I have recently found the value and joy in continuous line drawings and, similarly, in non-dominant hand drawing exercises. They force you to slow down and think about where you're placing your lines, but they also have this inherent messiness to them so you can never feel too precious about them. My go-to drawing practice focus was portraiture for a while, and I found it fun and visually interesting to find smooth ways to move between different points of the drawing. I tended to move along the topography lines of the face and/or follow shadow lines which created an interesting look and made me think more about the face's 3D form.
